Where is this documented?
It isn't, unfortunately. But a Google search reveals several people coming to that conclusion with code evidence (and a documentation patch that fell through the cracks), so whoever wrote the code didn't look it up, even if the official docs don't have it.
I ask because I tried to look this up in 2012 (https://gist.github.com/mgedmin/2972159/revisions …), failed, ended up determining the units experimentally. Luckily I had a 4K-sector drive to test with.
