PSA: do not test WiFI access points at a LAN party. Turns out that after 5000 people see your brand new BSSID as being in Spain, it's kinda hard to convince Google that it's in Japan now. Wi-Fi only location at my apartment now sends you all the way to Barakaldo.

I took my router home returning after graduation as the home one was showing every sign of finally expiring and for months google decided that I'm actually couple hundred kilometers away

change the name of your SSID to BSSID_optout_nomap and it should go away both from Microsoft and Google DBs

But I *want* it to be in the database, since my cell reception is near-null in my basement, nevermind GPS.

Reminds me of the last Formula 1 race I attended - Google wifilocated me at a random racetrack on the other side of the planet.

Next time you could VPN the entire @euskalencounter to Japan, just for good measure

That wouldn't help, considering it's based on cell and GPS location, not IP. Also I think my Japanese ISP would complain.

You can sell it to Pokémon Go players now, if the LAN party was on a Gym or poke stop hotspot 🤔

Chaos events always use the same access points, which leads to the effect that you can find out where they were last used by using Google Maps on your phone 😄

Open AP on a high-speed train in Italy. Most fun I've had in ages. You power up the AP now and you could be anywhere on the line :)
