Some copy protection systems, like the PlayStation, rely on the physical location of the tracks to encode extra data, extracted via monitoring analog servo corrections. A full optical disk archive format would have to consider mapping at least some of that data.

Afaik these systems can all be handled pretty simply and just amounts to storing some metadata to reconstruct answers to challenge/response protocol similarly to how you can rebuild the physical bitstream from decoded data on the fly instead of storing the expanded bitstream form
