From the "how the fuck did this hardware bug happen" department: Sandy Bridge GPUs cannot access the low 1MB of RAM, plus five pages. The pages at 0x20050000, 0x20110000, 0x20130000, 0x20138000, 0x40004000. Specifically.pic.twitter.com/rMN20Lt3xX

I suspect most people don't want to know, under the premises of "OS handles that, why do I care" or "that which I don't know can't hurt me". Neither is entirely true.
If I may ask an incompetent question, how does it interact with memtest (particularly when booting into dedicated "memtest iso image" test environment")? I presume the region gets reserved away so it does not go boom?
I presume your memtest iso image isn't using the GPU (beyond textmode VGA), so it doesn't care.
on sandy bridge there no IOMMU I think they add it on ivy bridge.
I realized I was wrong. On k processor is missing while it's enable in all non overlookabble CPU. Any one know why? Is so strange that CPU overclockable missing important features.
