The only other option I found was this dock: https://www.owcdigital.com/products/thunderbolt-3-dock-firewire … I already had the rest of the dongle chain laying around (minus TB3->TB2), so I went that route… not sure if carrying around a dock with your laptop is better or worse than a dongle chain though?
I think that dock is no longer made (refresh has no FireWire). Thankfully I don't really intend to use this on the go, so I don't really mind the ridiculous adapter chain... But it's still silly that nobody makes TB3->FW. Also, we'll see how well this works on Linux.

Also I'm hoping for an AMD system but USB4-TB3 compatibility seems... Not guaranteed? So that could end up being fun (not).
