Apparently (n=1) I can hear this crap well enough to nearly identify the note, even though it barely feels like a tone. I sang what I thought was the same thing and ended up at 292Hz. That's 6 octaves lower than 19kHz, off by about 29 cents.

Ugggh. I actually thought these were just overgrown ultrasonic proximity sensors at first.
-
Did they ever figure out what those ultrasonic weapons where in Cuba that were aimed at the embassy's, it got so people no one would work there, headaches, nausea, etc. - they ended up closing them down and sending everyone home to their countries.

that's what happens when you have ears of rat. -- I used to have problems with high-tension power lines, when i drove under them, all the hair on my body would tingle and hurt, and i have very hairy arms and chest, was so painful i had to speed thru them, or drive around them.

At least that's accidental emission (from high voltage corona discharge?) or something related to the electric field. This is deliberately blasting 136dB.

is the piezo transducer of those infernal devices accessible, because poking it with a needle might damage it enough to silence it

The noise situation seems awful. And like how do you even guarantee new location won't have the emitter issue in the future? That's tough.
