Seriously, what kind of thinking leads people to believe if this is acceptable? "Oh, we have too many bug reports to deal with, we'll just close some"? I'm sympathetic to understaffed projects, but the moment you close bugs without fixing them, you're insulting your users.
may not be applicable here but pretty common that the customer found a user error, or a workaround, or moved to something else without telling and is not interested in a fix anymore
Thus it becomes reasonable to ask again at *least* one year later, with a timeout of at least a month or two after that. Every month is madness.
I just had a look at stale&closed issues... I wonder how many real issues are put under the rug with this method.
the weird thing is at work, I was once searching for a VS issue I had and I got plenty of bug reports with the same error message I got, but the report had the last comment similar to this one I don't get why you would do this honestly...
