My main laptop/workstation is getting long in the tooth (7+ years), but for my next machine I want AMD to come up with 6+ core APUs and someone to stick one in a laptop with Thunderbolt... (or at least give me FireWire and/or ExpressCard, but I guess those are dead)
No FireWire on that. And for that money I can just buy a USB version of the FireWire device I'm trying to connect.

I have that dock and it does indeed have FireWire. I think it was subsequently dropped because - for some reason - it meant they had to have separate SKUs for MacOS/Windows. You can probably use an external Thunderbolt 3 PCE-E enclosure and plug a FireWire card into it.
