cis ppl get: genders names pronouns but trans ppl only get: gender identities preferred names preferred pronouns I wonder why this so called 'inclusive' language is so set on casting doubt and diminishing trans ppl. Really makes me think.

I've taken to prefixing those words with "real" instead of "preferred" - while it still suggests there's some other name or whatever, it dismisses the old one as fake and validates the one that matters. wonder if maybe there's even a better way?

I've been asked my "real" name before, and I couldn't tell if they were asking for my birth name or my current name. So depends on the people involved in the conversation, since there's a lot of subtext involved

Yeah, I used "real name" with a friend recently (referring to her current name) and she was confused because, to her, "real name" means registered/legal name, which is still her birth name.
