Today i rooted my kronos always hanging at loading bank data and finally discovered why it did so. KARMA was the culprit. Trying to load PRELOAD.KGE crashes the NKS4 board. (linux keeps running fine). No problems loading PCG and KSC. Time to swap motherboard! B360N-WIFI anyone?pic.twitter.com/IccGl2f3hX

Hi Marcan, i've got a B360N-WIFI ITX Mobo with an I3-8100 and 8gb RAM and snuck it into my kronos, but that obsolete patched kernel is not starting. Also tried with a MSI Z370A-Pro, same happens. Here's a pic, do you have any idea where to start looking?pic.twitter.com/berzMBp3Sr

Can't tell from the pic, you'll have to debug it yourself. Maybe try booting with init=/bin/sh and see if you can get a shell?

Tried with /bin/sh this morning, same error. Then I tried with acpi=off, and it boots! It's definitely something related to ACPI/DSDT/AML. Patching and rebuilding the kernel can help but installing a GCC4 toolchain takes a lot of time. How i wish this could be running in a VM...

I've got it almost running in a VM, but I need to do something about the keybed interface which is a nonstandard serial port...

Yeah, I remember that it uses 62500 baud with -10V/+10V ref levels. Plus the IT8686E is not supported on this kernel, so the kbd error is always displayed, even with the cable connected.A port of the it87 module is also needed (idk if it's fully supported in the mainline kernel)

The kernel has nothing to do with it; the superIO driver for the keybed serial is in OA.ko (the synth), it doesn't use the Linux driver. If it doesn't support your superIO then the only way to fix it is to patch a new driver into OA.ko, which is not particularly easy...

I'm sorry, I totally forgot that OA.ko also controls the superIO, the "-1 operation not permitted" and loadoa fail messages were deceiving me. Maybe being able to finish boot w/o connecting the keybed could be useful for testing purposes, but that will also require patching OA.ko

Small update: just tried with an h110i-plus, same as yours, but i have an i3-7100. Besides acpi=off needed, the loading of rtai_sched.ko fails with a divide error because TimeBase freq is 0 hz. I assume there is something wrong with this running on Kaby Lake...

FYI, just tried with an i3-6320, so my setup is currently the same as yours. Getting the same error. (timebase freq 0, rtai_sched not loading) This is definitely related to acpi 20160422 not being compatible with obsolete kernels. Please update your page.

I need to check my setup but I'm pretty sure I have the latest BIOS as of not long ago and it works fine. Might be a BIOS setting issue. I do have a bunch of CPU C states disabled since those cause trouble.
