At this point, why not fork the repo?
I think nobody but me uses pyalsa... It's completely broken in Python 3 (all the constants have bogus values) and the last commit to the repo is... a patch I sent them to fix a zillion memory leaks several years ago. I guess I'll send them another patch.

My last "F*** this! Life is too short!" solution to python audio playback annoyances (on an Allwinner SOC) was to MMAP the damn audio hw registers into python, which worked comically well and got me where I wanted to be in about 10mins.
