https://github.com/marcan/lsirec/blob/master/sample_sbr/sbr_sas9211-8i_itir.cfg … You can flash that with lsirec (after building it with sbrtool) as long as the PCI device is visible to the OS.

I was attempting that without much success. im about to pass out. I did build one with sbrtool and even added my sas addr as you have in the note on your github <3 but it wont let me host boot any firmware. its being dodgy, but also that motherboard has IOMUU devices

You need to disable the IOMMU (e.g. by booting with the appropriate kernel option). It won't ever work if the card is behind an IOMMU.

sas2flash sees it, just not lsiutil, going to hook drives up and see how it fares. I need to buy you a drink Hector, I thought this was gonepic.twitter.com/AiyaIsAVgE

You might need to run 'unbind' first to disable the kernel driver (what sas2flash etc use).

unbind doesn't work, the mmap bar1 persists. Something to note the lsipci output shows this, 0000:01:00.0 "SCSI storage controller [0100]" all of my other lsi cards show 0107, it doesn't look like it took sbr file properly. Is there a way to just wipe that portion and re-write?

Check lspci -vv output for the card. What does it say about the BARs and driver?

The kernel driver is loaded, so "unbind" seems like it didn't work. Try rmmod mpt3sas?

ok so, i unloaded, lsiutil commands worked; unbind, halt, writesbr, reset, rescan.... then info gives me the same error again, and lsipci still showing as SCSI storage controller. Only diff between my cfg i built sbr from and your included 9211cfg is I added the sasaddr

Did you build the config into a binary file with sbrtool? What happens if you read your current SBR and use sbrtool to parse it into text?

went through the motions and just flashed the cfg you included after i turned it to a bin without modifying it. still same issues. When I read and parse what was on the card I get this, cranky about that mfg data stillpic.twitter.com/zrXqKyuYW1
