That's not an i9 lid though, that's a core2duo lid remarked as i9. This wasn't done via delidding, someone is just sanding/buffing/covering the old core2duo marking off and printing/etching a new i9 marking on.pic.twitter.com/SJJV19pM2E
This kind of scam has been going on for decades with lower-value chips, see e.g. http://www.cti-us.com/pdf/CCAP-101InspectExamplesA6.pdf … People will take a random logic chip and remark it as something expensive, then sell it on eBay.

THAT makes way more sense. I was just thinking of how the 9900K uses solder and so a delid is harder.
