I still don’t get Windows XP fetishism. It’s the operating system that was so bad I jumped ship to Linux. Why do people still adore it?

I rescued my old XP VM the other day (somehow still licensed) and I can say the only thing it has going for it in my book is that you can run it in a VM and it performs extremely well on any modern machine. Can't say the same for win10 on bare metal. But yeah, I went 2000→Linux
Of course, said rescue involved an hour spent with chntpw's commandline registry editor to issue a magic incantation, because for some ridiculous reason you can't just change the ATA hardware from PIIX4 (VirtualBox) to PIIX3 (qemu) even though both use the same driver. It BSODs.
