It feels like we've had very few issues with Qt on Windows when Dolphin was ported from WX to Qt? But that might just be because WX was so buggy in comparison...

That directory loading speed issue is still awful in bsnes+ on Windows. It's painful.

TBF, we could also argue that Windows should fix its terrible filesystem performance. # time ls -al | wc -l 57923 ls --color=auto -al 0.304 user 0.131 system 16% cpu (2.717 wasted time).

That's a directory full of symlinks, so that's ~58000 lstat() syscalls *and* ~58000 readlink() syscalls in 2.7 seconds. 0.4 seconds the second time with the caches primed. And this is on HDDs, not SSDs. And it's on CephFS implemented in several layers of kernel and userspace!

Why what? Why the 58000-file directory? Why CephFS? :p

Mostly the symlinks.

Long story, but basically I'm archiving a certain game's online CDN. Although the CDN storage is hashed/sharded 256 ways, I generate a view per version using the "real" game filenames as symlinks for ease of access, and that is basically flat.
