Dug out my little Helium-Neon laser. This cute little thing puts out only 1.2mW, but it's a beautifully clean Gaussian beam and very pretty to look at! Takes a mean >1kV to light up this tube.pic.twitter.com/1b1bjo7aG5

I bought this laser 15 years ago for a high school science fair project to build a laser projector. It didn't *quite* work (super slow response) and it was huge and used HDD voice coils as actuators. I guess this gives it some closure, finally projecting something decent :-)

Nah, it's a potted brick. Takes in 12V, spits out what the tube needs.
