PSA: with the most recent version of LVM2, if you use it in your initramfs and you don't use udev there, you need this in lvm.conf, otherwise it'll hang for half an hour: devices { multipath_component_detection = 0 md_component_detection = 0 }
It seriously tries to talk to udev with a 10 second timeout, for each block device in the system, multiple times. Who thought this was a good idea?
Have you ever looked at the insanity that is dracut udev scripts?
My guess is the same person who made systemd wait for 1.5 minutes when it can't find a network interface instead of just continuing to boot. 
Some developer who didn't care about anyone who didn't use the exact same configuration as them, clearly.
Do a git blame and find out for yourself :P
