I never understood what security TPM BitLocker without PIN or password offered in the first place. If someone steals your computer, how does the TPM know it was stolen? Surely it just boots up and decrypts as normal.
The idea is that you have a login password and the TPM makes it slightly harder to compromise the boot process to bypass it. But only slightly.
Ahhh, good point, it does stop you just loading Hirens or whatever and just patching the SAM.
I know the Bitlocker security with TPM is basically laughable for anyone a bit interested, but it has one use case: a petty thief and having non-IT-security aware people having something slightly better than password11 for FDE. As I said, it's just *slightly* better than no FDE.
