          Huh, neat. I wouldnt have been surprised by piezo buzzers for vibration cancellation, but I had never thought about the need for vertical positioning. It makes sense, though.

          AFAIK they're not used for that. In high-performance drives, they are used to achieve more precise track positioning than the voice coil positioner, and to provide faster seeks within a very limited range of the voice coil position.
