Today I also found out you can rack in a Dell MD1000 storage array upside down, and it'll also go in until you stare at the front panel and realize it's two for two today. I should've had dinner before going to the datacenter.

Bonus points: this one GETS STUCK when you do that and you have to release it from outside the rails, because it gets stuck too far back for the unlock buttons to be visible.

For what possible reason would you mount it upside down? Backside first, I know but...??!!
-
Because I wasn't paying attention.

Impressive job. I always assumed mounting dell servers was a job a blind hamster could do, so I allow my coworkers to do that without supervision. Guess I should rethink that.

Are the newer servers any better? My homelab's R815 was a huge pain in the ass and I'm never, ever, ever taking it out of that rack.

Is the server upside down while the outer rails mounted properly? Or both upside down?
-
Just the server. The rails fit both ways.
