It's not an exploit, and some 12 years ago bored teenager me did the same thing to all the printers on a certain University network (from the outside). Seriously, this is old as heck. The strange thing is that nobody is running automated masscan printer spambots by now.
Apparently using Internet servers as they're intended to be used is "hacking" these days.
