Dunno. I'm a bit sad at the loss of all the black magic you could find in video games running in kernel mode with full hardware control :( It's just not the same with syscalls and clean interfaces.

Well, this will not change much, instead of instruction cache semantic interpretation differences there will be API ones. Might be worse.

There are tons of things you would think don't really matter in newer emulators, but really it's just that emulators were too bad to realize it before. Dolphin even has a basic model trying to estimate execution units utilization to count cycles. Without it some FMVs run slow.
