Thankfully x86 is far, far, *far* away from being even remotely to the point where they have to care about that, because both major implementations of the architecture are a joke local-security-wise.

Yeah, side-channels remain an issue of low-hanging fruit. Sure, theres some gurantee that you can always make it work, which is useful, but it doesn't matter if there's an easier route, and there almost always is. Why did a tunnel when you could just use the open door.
