I've had similiar stats over the years with SOHO type enviroments. I always assumed dust and humidity.. Even with fanless SBC servers

Ceph. The disks are fine actually, it's just the server itself dying.

I have two hp cubes running 24/24h since about 2014. Only recently had the first major glitch on one of them - even that seems more than software glitch in the bios triggered by a failing sdcard. Eastern europe, no climate control. Hp cubes are as entry level servers as can be.

Eastern Europe is probably a very different climate from rural Japan. Especially regarding humidity.
