I actually don't know if it would be bad, but I just don't like the idea of immersing a lens in a liquid bath. But yeah, I would guess the surface coatings wouldn't do well. Thankfully, the interior looks quite clean other than this ring.
Oh, I wouldn't immerse the whole thing of course. But I wonder if it would work for individual elements.

Circuit elements should be fine. Moving parts would probably depend on what cleaning agent you're using. The glass, I wouldn't even think about it due to the coatings. The bare lens body, if you got it stripped down that far would probably be fine.

Yeah, I think pretty chemically pretty much anything in the lens would be fine with IPA or something like that (but you'd need to clean out and reapply grease where necessary, and I wouldn't immerse the motors). But the glass coatings might not like the ultrasound.
