I didn't actually know ultrasonic cleaners were bad for lenses. Damage to surface coatings?

I actually don't know if it would be bad, but I just don't like the idea of immersing a lens in a liquid bath. But yeah, I would guess the surface coatings wouldn't do well. Thankfully, the interior looks quite clean other than this ring.

Oh, I wouldn't immerse the whole thing of course. But I wonder if it would work for individual elements.
