For fuck's sake, @Dell. I have 15 servers with iDRAC basic in a cluster. *13* have crashed BMCs have in some way (web dead, IPMI dead, or both). Two of those are so screwed I have no way to reset them without physically going to the datacenter. What the fuck.

We would be happy to help with the iDrac issue. Would you confirm any errors seen, the model servers this is happening to, as well as if the BIOS and iDrac are current and up to date on those systems? Thank you ^CH

These are PowerEdge R320 systems that were running iDRAC version 2.0f. I managed to reset most of them via ipmitool (and update them to 2.60), but two remain wedged. One responds to neither web nor IPMI. The other responds via web and SSH, but logins fail.

I don't think there's much left to be done other than drive to the datacenter to cold power cycle the two remaining servers. iMC's Invoke-iDRACHardReset also does not work.

I did manage to reset one of the two where the web interface responded (but it isn't licensed) by manually issuing the DRAC reset HTTP request, copied from a licensed server. You should get your engineers to add that to the basic management panel. It's the bare minimum.

I don't care how many other features you choose to charge a license for, but you should never lock down ways of resetting the thing when something goes wrong. Same with SSH - it was alive but I couldn't log in due to missing license. IPMI doesn't need a license, but it was dead.

SSH really needs a premium license? Even HPE doesn't do that.
