      Honestly, most personal threat mitigations are just fads. E.g. I don't get the whole "tape over camera" thing. If you've pwned my computer enough to remote control my camera, taking pictures of me in unwelcome states of undress is the least of my worries.

      That was hyperbole, nobody would enjoy such photos being taken, but my guess is most people in infosec probably have bigger things to worry about if they get compromised to that extent. Is camera pwnage the biggest threat for you?

      I understand that. I'm just curious how that becomes the top threat. I might have a different perspective, but I would naively imagine credential and identity theft, or loss of confidential information, could be much more damaging.

      I didn't say it's my absolute top threat, I said it was far from the least of my worries. Though anytime someone has been targeting ME, because they know ME, which again, has happened MULTIPLE times, that's definitely been the sort of thing they're after, not the money.

      To an average woman, perhaps not much. Taping the camera up is actually reasonable advice for Jane Average. But precisely the people likely to tape up cameras are the people I'd expect would have bigger things to be worried about.

          Also the only reason this is even remotely gender biased is due to existing gender biases in society. There's no inherent reason why this should be any different for men. But I get how it is.
