Honestly, most personal threat mitigations are just fads. E.g. I don't get the whole "tape over camera" thing. If you've pwned my computer enough to remote control my camera, taking pictures of me in unwelcome states of undress is the least of my worries.

also... good luck dealing with your mic... prevent pictures sure, but what about all the conversations and misc sounds that can be captured... possibly from the next room!

It is emphatically not the least of *my* worries. But I actually use the camera so I can’t just tape it up.

That was hyperbole, nobody would enjoy such photos being taken, but my guess is most people in infosec probably have bigger things to worry about if they get compromised to that extent. Is camera pwnage the biggest threat for you?
