eMMC interface uses few wires (just a handful more than 4 bit SDs IIRC), and thus eMMC cards have a low pin count. But eMMC chips in phones usually have a low pitch and many extra VDD/VSS balls (it will maybe work without populating most of those though).

They are fewer than I remembered. But even with the relatively low pin count, 0.5mm altough doable, will cause pain for sure.
Aren't there sockets you can drop these into?
