Looks like my Nexus 5X died. Again. Looks like time for some heroic last-ditch efforts (like hot air) to get the data out via ADB, otherwise I'm popping off the eMMC and dumping it that way. At least this time I have a backup of the raw dm-crypt volume key.
eMMC actually has a pretty big pitch IIRC (and you only need a few wires for eMMC).

eMMC interface uses few wires (just a handful more than 4 bit SDs IIRC), and thus eMMC cards have a low pin count. But eMMC chips in phones usually have a low pitch and many extra VDD/VSS balls (it will maybe work without populating most of those though).

It really is mostly NCs. .5mm pitch, which is painful but doable slowly and with care, especially since only a few balls need to be connected.pic.twitter.com/V26m5LPbRI
