      Maybe because MHL: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mobile_High-Definition_Link … Because the same five-pin Micro-USB port is also typically used for charging the device, the sink is required to provide power to maintain the state of charge (or even recharge)

      I don't think this monitor supports MHL, and even if it did, I doubt it's allowed to backfeed power without negotiating first.

          Surely it's a cheap clone of something already engineered for another brand😁 If it's worth to find the reason, I guess this can be tested with a proper cable and a MHL enabled phone/device.
