Hmm, the sensor failed during the rain earlier (but now it's back). Water ingress? The host was up, but no temperature readings, which means the BME280 was failing to acquire measurements but was otherwise up.pic.twitter.com/w276AnJddA

The sensor is specced up to 100%, but I don't think it likes actual liquid water. It seems to work again once it dries out though.
Yeah but I mean, if it’s an ingress reading of humidity should be wrong as the water is filtering through the sensor, even
Well rain will cause ambient humidity to rise sharply, so I have no reason not to believe the numbers. It's not like rain was falling directly on the sensor, it's just that it wasn't recessed far in enough to prevent water from eventually splashing in from the side.
If the sensor dries, residual humidity will stuck inside package thus causing bad readings, one way to test is to create a close box enviroments and do reads with you box and another sensor
There's a hole in the package; whatever humidity is left inside will eventually evaporate either way. I'll cross check it with another sensor, but the readings I got yesterday indoors looked reasonable.
