bitcoin may kill a lot of people, but it also helps a lot of people get greymarket medication, so, it;s impossible to say if its bad or not,

bitcoin is useful for strictly one thing, which is making payments (potentially cross-border) circumventing the traditional financial system

right, but dissipating energy as heat isn't the problem (literally all energy we put to use eventually dissipates as heat), emissions are and the kind of person who buys a car to show off would usually 'tune' it to reverse all the work vendors did to reduce emissions
