Am I the only one who keeps seeing stories about outrage over some kind of joke/meme and realizing I didn't have any clue about the underlying implications of that joke/meme in the first place?

These days it feels as if half the things coming out of the internet are fraught with danger because they originated/were taken over/have been used by some subset of assholes, and if you're not careful you might accidentally come across as an asshole yourself.
