I just want us all to not be assholes and try to teach each other in a way that is friendly and healthy and benefits everyone instead of whatever the fuck we do now, apparently that's way too much to ask.

Sorry, I'm just cynical about BigCos failing at security (especially security that affects others). I'm just tired. Everything's broken. Even the companies that care the most increasingly care less or are stopping listening to the people who do important security work. :(

What companies cared? This is capitalism, so long as they believe it is profitable to ignore security, corporations will do so. There is a sad reality that the things that really make people realize something needs to change are the colossal-scale breaches.

Idk dude, I get being skeptical, but cynicism is universally corrosive. If we want to impact change, we need a united front and a united message, because most people cannot even begin to understand the stuff we bicker about in our hacker equivalent of an ivory tower.
