I get that the industry wasn't really on the ball on this one, but there's a pretty massive difference between Spectre v1 (a fundamental security issue with speculation that affects the whole industry) and L1TF (Intel what the fuck are you doing?), other bugs being in the middle.
Sadly, time and time again history has shown that *not* shaming companies for this kind of stuff just winds up with them weaseling their way out and not admitting any responsibility. Remember, when this whole thing started Intel's first response was "working as intended".

Yeah because it was "working as intended", they weren't wrong. That doesn't mean there weren't problems with the intended function, just that the spec was stupid. I gurantee you Intel doesn't care about us shaming them, they only care when MS, AMZN, and other big payers do.

I bet MS, AMZN, and GOOG are all very carefully considering EPYC servers now. If nothing else, as insurance in the form of diversity.
