Fun fact: (some) HP Smart Array controllers, LSI MegaRAID cards, and LSI SAS HBAs are all the same physical silicon with different firmware. So the Linux kernel contains at least 3 different drivers for the same hardware. With similar-but-really-meaning-the-same register names.

Dell are just an LSI OEM. They use the LSI driver. There are tons of those (Fujitsu, IBM, etc). I'm talking about different drivers for the same hardware pretending to be different things.
