who called it self almalgamating tape instead of "street shrink"
Whoever invents heatshrink you can put on *after* both ends of the wire are attached can have all my money. Yes I know about self-amalgamating tape but it's not the same.

what about heat-shrink tape? (afaik that's a different thing than self-amalgamating?)

I don't think that stuff really works for small splices/joints and it's a pain to use from what I can see.

Just the other day, I ran into a kind of heatshrink tube with a thin layer of glue inside, the glue melts and expands as the tube shrinks. maybe cutting that type of tube (with a spiral cut?) might sort of work. I cannot try as it was a short piece coming with kit and I used it.
