I totally get that they can change the messages and yada yada, but so far I've seen zero countermeasures. They're literally copying and pasting the same message repeatedly to channels and users. It's trivial to block that exact content. You should have deployable regex filters.

It's a problem for more than a year, and Freenode doesn't want to do anything, because it might just block that one single legitimate user / message. Several trivial solutions have been proposed, they rejected them all.

E.g. even simple things like requiring that you either identify with NickServ or solve a CAPTCHA before you can join a channel have been rejected, because it might inconvenience that single legitimate user that has no NickServ account.
