I had an ADATA SSD die on me recently after less than 1 month power-on time with negligible write throughput. Tons of reallocated sectors and it failed by refusing any further writes (after having previously caused some unexplained FS corruption a day earlier). (thread)

Did it at least allow you to read it? I’ve heard of some SSDs turning into a brick and not even allowing read only.

Yeah, it was read only. Had to mount the FS ignoring the journal though, since that requires writes.

*nod* I might have copied the entire drive elsewhere and then dealt with the FS where it was RW.

Yeah, I was in a rush to get that box back up and didn't expect anything important to be corrupted, so I just shoved another SSD in there and rsynced things over. Then once it was up reinstalled all packages just to be sure.
