That is because companies can no longer buy named licenses for whatever reason.https://twitter.com/marcan42/status/1024669180170199040 …

Ugh, the already ridiculously expensive IDA Pro support renewal is $90 more expensive than last year ($469 vs $379). Maybe they really do want to keep encouraging people to switch to an alternative or write their own.

Yes, and named licenses cannot be used for any professional purpose at all. I found this out when I tried to buy a personal license a couple of months ago and they mailed me to say I can’t ever use it for work. wtf.

I pointed out that the license agreement on the website says exactly the opposite and they just shrugged and said the policy changed. I guess I’m using r2 now since hexrays refuses to take my (personal) money

Wait are you saying I just spent $469 on a program I can't use? Where is this documented? I pay to use IDA for professional purposes, otherwise I'd be spending my time writing or improving a clone.

Quote from email they sent me: “Please note that personal licenses can not be used within the corporate/work environment” I guess you can still use it for crackmes and capture the flag as long as you aren’t representing an employer.

I just e-mailed them about this. Let's see what they reply.
