If I file a bug having done half your work and you close it as NEEDINFO asking for redundant logs, I'm just going to locally patch your software and move on and your other users can suffer and you can go ahead and debug everything by yourself all over again.

Yeah, but what if it only occurs for you?
-
I already said I worked out exactly where the problem is. Whether I'm the only person meeting the requirements or not it is irrelevant.

If it's just occuring for you, with those steps. Those 500kb logs are needed
-
I found the problem. Period. You do not need 500kB of crap because I already did the work to wade through it and find the root cause. It doesn't matter how many people actually hit the bug. I already found it and any number of people could follow my steps and reproduce it.

what if it's zero-tolerance as in: "we will only accept bug reports that include patches", rather than logs or whatever, aka "please send a pull request"
-
That's a different story. Not exactly what I'd call caring for your users, but if that's your policy up front nobody can force you to do work you don't want to do.

Find it funny how people are explaining to you this and that as if you aren’t a dev and don’t already know when I just saw this tweet and don’t even know you otherwise and I can still tell that you’re a dev who knows how debugging works because you debugged the issue yourself
