Watching an utterly terrible movie and there's some code and I just realized they literally used http://hackertyper.com . In several scenes. linux/kernel/groups.c in green on black with double spacing. Holy shit how lazy can you get.pic.twitter.com/ibAz1BRQb2

And later on it goes one step deeper. They wrote a .bat file for the mock virus that will do all the evil stuff by echoing text and sleeping in between. And then instead of running it, *they show us the source code*. With all the sleeps. WTF.pic.twitter.com/bnMupMeQ9i

Are there any good movies that actually get it right? Every movie I've seen pulls stuff like this.

Mr.Robot is all I've seen and it's basically script kiddy garbage like Kali and popular Linux admin commands on top of bad plot timeline. Then again most breaches now don't even use binary exploitation..

To be fair, I’d much rather see hackertyper than the typical screen when they say something like “I’ve tracked his IP address”. And it shows a number like 986.587.389.245. That’s like nails on a chalkboard for me. There are worse things than hackertyper for sure.

This is often done on purpose, as XXX-555-1212 is used for phone numbers, you don't want to be putting someone's actual IP address in a movie. I mean I'd use some from the documentation only RFC, or multicast addresses, but I think this is reasonable too.
