I get 96 or so on typing tests, but I *never* type that fast when I'm programming anyway. I spend more time thinking than typing. But I do think keyword abbreviations serve a purpose. Keywords are less valuable than identifiers, so they should take up less real estate.

IOW, it's a *reading* thing (especially skimming), not a *writing* thing, IMO.

It's about signal to noise ratio. When I'm skimming code, I want the stuff in my visual field to be mostly composed of information, which largely means identifiers. Keywords have very little information, and longer keywords just obscure the signal.
