At least it was a railgun, and at least it was middle school. I was in *college* and got told by a dorm administrator that my tiny little coilgun, made with a pen tube and a disposable camera flash cap, completely harmless if shot against bare skin, was a "weapon".

I proceeded to ask him what his definition was. He said it was anything that could shoot across the table, from where I was to where he was. I then proceeded to demonstrate how my Pilot G2 pen, assembled backwards, was a "weapon" by his standards. He shrugged.
