Why is everyone raising a fit over *Google* of all companies trying to patent a video compression algorithm? Don't people realize that if *they* can get it then *so can any of the shitstain companies that are members of the H.265 patent pools*? This is a Good Thing.

Would be nice if the
@EFF started hiring patent lawyers for specifically this kind of thing. Would be nice to see nonprofits help us all fix the software patent system, too bad patenting is so freaking expensive.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

The fact that it is presumably a good thing for us that Google patents a video codec, means that something is terribly wrong with patents.
