To remove the Ethernet jack, use side cutters and cut the pins as close to the board as possible on the solder side, and use a flat head to pry the connector off. Leaves board in fine shape to resolder a new one. Remember, these things self destruct with heat, don't desolder.

BadBIOS was paranoia because all the "evidence" he offered for it was nonsense and could easily be explained as perfectly normal phenomena. He never found any code. He never did the obvious things any professional would to confirm the existence of the implant.
If BadBIOS were real, all you'd need to do is take the Flash chip off the board, dump it, and compare against a known good image (e.g. from another user), using of course a known-good machine for the analysis. It's an implant, it's not magic.

A lot of the crazy things he claimed an implant could hypothetically be doing are *just barely plausible*, but it's not magic. Once you think something has been tampered with it's simple to systematically confirm or disprove that theory. He never found anything.

As for the current story, every single thing he's described is entirely normal and expected for the hardware he's tearing apart. He's confusing technology he does not understand with an NSA implant.
