There are realities you are over-looking. Yes they waited 34 years. I don't think that's Rian's fault. And the actor who played Luke was now 66. So maybe you should be "angry" at George for jumping back to the prequels. And didn't JJ already establish Luke's look and tone in FA?

We bitch because TLJ was a profoundly bad film. It was more like a Spaceballs sequel than a star wars movie. I'm not sure why anyone would defend such a garbage fire of a movie. #lastjediawful

Fact is, if Rian in particular and Lucasfilm in general actually tried to make it look like they were taking many of the valid and intelligent criticisms to heart, Solo would have made money and the situation would be way more civil than it is now.
