My father missed my brother’s birth because he was arrested on marijuana charges - sat in a jail for almost a year! I have some issues I’m ready to raise!

I genuinely want to know what causes someone to wake up and unload dozens of rounds of bullets on complete strangers. On anyone. You can’t convince me it’s mental illness. It’s something beyond that and access to guns is a catalyst for whatever it is.

Poor and middle income people are leaving the state in droves, often for Republican states without access to abortion care. California isn't a safe haven for women unless it's affordable for them.

Abortion is legal in California. It will remain that way. I just signed a bill that makes our state a safe haven for women across the nation. We will not cooperate with any states that attempt to prosecute women or doctors for receiving or providing reproductive care.

Abortion care IS health care. It was so before this. And it will remain so after this. We don’t care what a far-right extremist Supreme Court that is in a crisis of legitimacy says. Your racist, sexist, classist ruling won’t stop us from accessing the care we need.

With Juneteenth approaching, it’s a good time to discuss change. It’s not hyperbole to say the prison industrial complex is modern day slavery. The 13th amendment abolished slavery and involuntary servitude EXCEPT for those convicted of a crime. It’s time to end the exception

I just finished reading Octavia Butler’s ‘Parable of the Sower’ and wanted to share this question posed to her in the reading guide about what she envisioned for 2024 and beyond. she was truly prophetic. so mad we didn’t listen to her when this book was first published in 1993 😩

At the beginning of this pandemic I heard everyone would be personally impacted by the loss of a loved one.  Covid is killing us.  Racism is killing us.  Ignorance is killing us.

No matter how you try and spin it this is inhumane. Grieving, reporting and simply wanting to live a peaceful life where your roots are should be protected and allowed in every corner of this world.

Israeli police stormed the home of journalist Shireen Abu Akleh in occupied East Jerusalem as family mourned her — ordering them to take down Palestinian flags and stop playing "nationalist music." Israeli soldiers killed Abu Akleh during raids on a Palestinian refugee camp.

Sending love to anyone who is silently or outrightly dealing with an abortion 🤎 Also sending love to anyone who is thinking about getting an abortion while processing this news 🤎 Sending love to anyone who could get an abortion even if they’ve never been pregnant 🤎

It’s almost like housing isn’t a human right. If we focused on reliable and affordable housing that survived through the economy over decades, I think we might have a solution - regardless of where people decide to live

Remote work isn't creating homelessness, a lack of housing is. This is the most dishonest framing of the housing crisis I've ever seen.

Moving across the country in the middle of a pandemic means being very comfortable spending time by yourself sometimes. Maybe that’s just your twenties lol, either way I’m fully embracing it 🌷
